How gratitude can make you happier

There have been several studies conducted on gratitude and happiness.

A study at the University of California Davis asked one group of people to write down things they were grateful for every week. They asked another group to write down what was hard about the week. The group that wrote down what they were grateful for exercised more often, had fewer ailments and were more optimistic about the future than the other group

Another study at the University of Pennsylvania found that people who wrote thank you letters felt happier for a whole month afterwards. The same study also found that writing down three positive things every day for a week boosted happiness for six months.

Researchers at Eastern Washington University found that grateful people have four primary characteristics:
They feel a sense of abundance in their life.They acknowledge the contributions of others to their well-being.They appreciate enjoy life’s small pleasures.They recognize the importance of expressing gratitude.…

3 benefits of being happy

Why try to be happy?If you aren’t sure if it’s worth the effort to be happy, let me give you a WIIFM (What’s In It For Me.)  Well first off, researchers from Warwick University in England found that happier workers were 12% more productive than average and unhappier workers were 10% less productive than average.  Researchers from the University College London found that happier people have greater protection against heart disease and stroke.  A study in Milwaukee that the happiest people lived nine years longer than the least happy ones.  So by being happy, not only will you enjoy life more, you will be more productive, you will be healthier and you will probably live longer.

(c) 50% If you answered 50% give yourself a gold star. In case you are wondering, 40% of the rest of your happiness comes from simply deciding to be happy.  Now guess how many of your daily actions are habits? (a) 10%

The importance of mornings How you start your day sets the tone for the rest of it. Most of us rely on our habits in the morning to get going before we are fully awake. Your morning habits can either set you up for success or they can sabotage you. If you wake up late and have to rush out the door you are going to begin your workday frazzled.
